Best Beaches on Bonaire (Local Tips & Hidden Gems)
Looking for the best beaches in Bonaire?
After living on the island for several months, we quickly realized that Bonaire’s beaches are very different from what you might expect in the Caribbean. You won’t find endless stretches of white sand with large resorts — instead, you’ll discover quiet, natural spots with crystal-clear water and a relaxed atmosphere.
Here are some of the best beaches on Bonaire, including a few local favorites and hidden gems.
1. Te Amo Beach 🏝️
One of the most popular beaches on the island — and for good reason.
- Easy access
- Soft sand
- Calm, clear water
It’s perfect for swimming, snorkeling, or just relaxing. Plus, it’s located very close to Belnem.
2. Bachelor’s Beach
A small beach with a big character.
You’ll need to walk down a set of stairs to reach it, but once you’re there:
- Beautiful clear water
- Great for snorkeling and diving
- Usually less crowded
This is one of those spots you keep coming back to.

3. Pink Beach 🌸
Located further south, Pink Beach is peaceful and scenic.
- Quiet surroundings
- Crystal-clear water
- Great for relaxing
It’s a great place if you want to escape the busier areas.
4. Sorobon Beach 🌊
Completely different from the west coast.
Located on the east side of Bonaire:
- Shallow turquoise water
- Perfect for windsurfing
- Very relaxed atmosphere
Even if you’re not windsurfing, it’s worth visiting for the views alone.
5. Donkey Beach
A quieter alternative to Te Amo Beach.
- Easy to reach
- Fewer people
- Great for a quick swim or snorkel

6. 1000 Steps Beach
Don’t worry — it’s not actually 1000 steps 😉
This is one of the most famous dive and snorkel spots:
- Stunning views
- Clear water
- Great marine life

7. Andrea I & II
Two lesser-known beaches that are perfect if you want something quieter.
- Easy access
- Good snorkeling
- Relaxed vibe
8. Boca Slagbaai (National Park) 🌿
Located inside Washington Slagbaai National Park.
- More rugged
- Stronger waves
- Beautiful nature
A completely different experience compared to the west coast.

9. Klein Bonaire Beaches
Take a water taxi to Klein Bonaire for:
- White sandy beaches
- Crystal-clear water
- Incredible snorkeling
This is as close as you get to a “classic Caribbean beach” on Bonaire.
10. Hidden Coastal Spots
One of the best things about Bonaire is that you can find your own spot almost anywhere along the coast.
Bring:
- Water
- Snacks
- Shade
And just explore — that’s where the real magic happens.
Our Local Tip
Bonaire’s beaches are not about beach clubs or luxury setups. Most places are simple and natural — and that’s exactly what makes them special.
If you come prepared, you’ll enjoy them even more.
Why Location Matters
During our stay, we realized how convenient it is to stay close to the southern beaches.
From Belnem, you can reach:
- Te Amo Beach in minutes
- Bachelor’s Beach even faster
- Several snorkeling and diving spots nearby
That’s one of the reasons we chose this area for our vacation home.
Final Thoughts
Bonaire’s beaches may not be what you expect — but that’s exactly why they’re so special.
They’re:
- Quiet
- Natural
- Uncrowded
And once you find your favorite spot… you’ll keep going back.
